We first found out our daughter was allergic to nuts when she was 13 months old. We had made homemade Pesto that included Walnuts. We noticed Sage was having shallow breathing and her lips were swelling. Her mother administered Benadryl and rushed to the ER.
Later follow up with her doctor determined that she had severe allergies to several nuts. Since then we avoid all nuts.Allergy testing determined that Sage was >100 to walnuts and highly allergic to several other nuts.
The thought of having a companion for her daughter that would help her live a safer life is very exciting for their family.
From Sage’s mom: I believe that a dog would help Sage greatly in her day to day life. As of now, Sage plays mostly by herself. I am very cautious about other children not knowing what they have eaten. Sage had play dates, but always at home where the environment is safe. With Peppermint I would feel safe sending her to public school.
